The controversy between star quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers grows among other offseason news in the NFL. Here are the latest details.
Little Progress in Negotiations
According to recent statements by quarterback and MVP Aaron Rodgers, negotiations between him and his club, the Green Bay Packers, have not taken place. However, sources close to the situation confirm that the Packers have, in fact, attempted to hold a dialogue with Rodgers.
Rodgers expressed his displeasure over what he says has been a lack of communication about the Packers' plans for him in the 2023 season. The quarterback has expressed his desire to join the New York Jets, putting the Packers in a bind. It appears the only way to resolve the controversy is to grant Rogers his desire to go to New York.
The Jets are in no hurry
Meanwhile, New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas has stated that his club is in no rush to finalize negotiations for Aaron Rodgers. While Douglas has indicated that Rodgers will be the quarterback for the Jets in 2023, the actual signing itself has not made much progress.
In particular, the point of contention between the Jets and Packers is over the 2023 first-round pick. The Jets are reluctant to release it while the Packers are demanding that it be included as part of the compensation for Rodgers. Unfortunately for the Packers, they have very little leverage in this negotiation. Rodgers is determined so Green Bay has no choice but to make something work.
NFL ACCESSIBLE!
Mexico is perhaps the only country in Latin America in which NFL games are also broadcast on free-to-air television. Good news for Mexican soccer fans. pic.twitter.com/uO979dTQ0O

Jackson Requests Transfer
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has asked his club for a trade, according to quarterbacks with a desire for change. The former NFL Most Valuable Player asked to be traded because he believes the Ravens have no interest in reaching his price tag. In particular, Jackson is pursuing a contract similar to the one the Cleveland Browns gave Deshaun Watson, i.e. a fully guaranteed contract worth $230 million.
Jackson, who was the Ravens' first-round pick in 2018, has been linked as an option for the New York Jets should the Aaron Rodgers trade fail to materialize. One of the clubs that has shown the most interest is Indianapolis. The Colts have been in search of a new quarterback after Andrew Luck's sudden retirement in 2019.
The Colts have Gardner Minshew, Sam Ehlinger and Nick Foles on their roster, but none of these quarterbacks are seen as long-term solutions. That's why the Colts are in search of a permanent solution.
Like the Packers, the Ravens have little bargaining power. It remains to be seen whether the Colts, or any other team, is prepared to pay Jackson what he feels he deserves.
