In a span of 84 seconds from the start of the match, Henry Martin, the Mexican striker, ran to the corner flag and enthusiastically embraced his teammates. El Tri, determined to claim a remarkable ninth Gold Cup, faced Jamaica on Wednesday, and his post-goal celebration set the tone for the rest of the game.
Mexico too strong
With Martin's goal casting the opening spell, Mexico's dominant performance led to an emphatic 3-0 victory over Jamaica. In the 30th minute, Luis Chavez showed his skill by successfully converting a free kick. The game was almost evenly balanced as Mexico remained on the defensive for a brief moment until Martin scored an impressive goal, breaking the deadlock. However, a miscommunication between the Jamaican defenders created an opportunity for Mexico to launch a strong offensive move. Midfielder Luis Romo deftly advanced down the right side, capitalizing on the weakened defense.
In Jamaica's penalty area, his initial cross found its way in, only to be retrieved by midfielder Jesus Gallardo, who showed remarkable composure as he waited for his teammates to arrive before sending a precise, well-placed cross into the penalty area.
In a display of his astute soccer skills, Erick Sanchez, the talented Mexican striker, masterfully manipulated the ball, employing a clever maneuver that evoked intrigue from the Jamaican defenders. Consequently, an opportunity arose for Martin to seize the moment, deftly maneuvering the ball and eventually striking it triumphantly past Andre Blake, the goalkeeper and esteemed captain of the Jamaican national team, providing Mexico with an ideal start to the match.
Jamaica faced a series of defeats at the hands of Mexico in several matches. The English Premier League expedition for the Reggae Boyz began with the formidable trio of Michail Antonio, Leon Bailey and Demarai Gray leading the attack; however, they found it difficult to adequately address the needs of one of these players. The team suffered a setback when their EPL defender Ethan Pinnock joined the Gold Cup team, but had to leave the tournament prematurely due to a family crisis.
Chavez, having shown his prowess at the 2022 World Cup by scoring a remarkable free kick goal against Saudi Arabia, deftly beat Blake from close range and effectively extended Mexico's lead by scoring another goal.

United States falls to Panama
In a twist that left everyone stunned during the 2023 Gold Cup, Team Panama emerged as the best underdog. They pulled off a stunning upset by overcoming the mighty United States in the semifinals.
After a second period that resulted in a 1-1 draw, the game proceeded to overtime where both teams seemed to lose their momentum. This led to a penalty shootout, where Mosquera made an incredible save on Ferreira's shot, setting the tone for what was to come.
In a thrilling twist of fate, the fantastic Canadian Turner managed to save Cristian Martinez's penalty kick, only for Mosquera to make another amazing save on Cristian Roldan's shot that deflected off the post.
In Panama's quest for a long-awaited Gold Cup victory, Carrasquilla emerged as the pivotal figure, deftly outpacing Turner. This fiercely contested final marks Panama's third appearance, however, they have fallen short in their previous attempts in 2005 and 2013.
The Panama team is now preparing for a challenging showdown against Mexico in the final. Their goalkeeper, Orlando Mosquera, emerged as the star of the penalty shootout, and has to stay focused on the upcoming final game.
