During the summer season, soccer enthusiasts are generally attracted to international soccer. international soccer and MLS games. This year, however, four competitions are taking place. In addition, the Philadelphia Union has joined the Premier League, while MLS and Liga Mx teams pause their seasons to participate in the event.
The CONCACAF Nations League has arrived
The CONCACAF Nations League, although a relatively new tournament, has been active for a number of years. In the inaugural competition, the United States Men's National Team (USMNT) faced Mexico and emerged victorious in a penalty shootout. The team's goal is to secure a place in the knockout stage, which they have not achieved since December of the previous year.
The Nations League semifinals will take place June 15-18, and once again the United States will face Mexico. The USMNT has had a successful track record against Mexico in past performances; however, they must show exceptional skills on the field to advance to the second round of the UEFA Champions League.
Panama and Canada are at the opposite end of the range. Despite narrowly missing the World Cup, Panama is aiming to bounce back and redeem itself at the next tournament. Canada, meanwhile, enters the World Cup as the best-performing team in CONCACAF, but ranks second behind hosts Qatar as the worst team in the world. Later this month marks the return of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Gold Cup just around the corner
At the upcoming Gold Cup, which runs from June 24 to July 16, the USMNT is determined to win its third Gold Cup, having claimed victory in two of the previous three tournaments. The competition will see 16 countries competing for the coveted title, with 15 coming from the CONCACAF region and an invitation extended to Qatar.
To advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament, the first and second fourth place finishers in their respective groups must be successful in their three group stage matches. As expected, the United States and Mexico are the favorites to excel in this Gold Cup event, however, teams like Canada and Costa Rica are also determined to prove their worth. Conversely, it would be unwise to rely on the quality of Honduras, Panama or El Salvador near the end of their matches.
Could the Gold Cup final result in another U.S.-Mexico showdown? While the group may suggest such an outcome, Canada could present itself as a formidable contender for either country in the semifinals, provided the top three from CONCACAF make it that far.
On Monday, CONCACAF expelled Nicaragua from the Gold Cup because they had fielded an ineligible player in eight matches. Trinidad and Tobago will replace them in the tournament.
The decision was announced by Concacaf's disciplinary committee. Although no player was specifically named as ineligible, it was noted that certain matches included National League games.

Women's World Cup promises excitement
With the arrival of July, the Women's World Cup is poised for a showdown like no other, poised to become the most hotly contested tournament of the summer. As Australia and New Zealand join forces to host the event, 32 nations will converge on the field vying for the coveted title of world champion. The United States Women's National Team (USWNT) emerges as a major contender, intent on making history by winning its third consecutive title and capturing the World Cup's main spotlight.
Winning four of the last eight Women's World Cup titles, the United States has been an impressive force. Their goal now is to create even more history by playing remarkable soccer and securing a hat-trick of victories. Although the U.S. and Germany won back-to-back World Cup titles, neither has won three in a row. The USWNT team that will take the field will remain unchanged from the practice sessions.
Countries competing in the tournament have the authority to displace the United States if they perform exceptionally well on a specific day. Countries such as France, Sweden, England and Germany are vying for the top spot. Although not part of the top five, there may be a nation to upset the world even if the USWNT manages to create history by showing its supremacy.
