European soccer finds Newcastle targeting Ronaldo

|

Newcastle United, the English Premier League team with new energy, is on a mission. It is ready to go all out to add Cristiano Ronaldo and Gabri Veiga to its roster, even if that means breaking the bank. At the same time, Milan will be looking for another leader after Zlatan Ibrahimović announced his retirement from the game last weekend.

Newcastle looking for veteran talent

Al Nassr's association with Ronaldo has been anything but easy. Despite the initial perception of a peaceful retirement, numerous on-field mishaps and minor scuffles with his loyal fans made for a disastrous situation. The Portuguese legend looks set to leave Saudi Arabia and return to the upper echelons of soccer. According to reports in the British media, Newcastle may be his next port of call.

Newcastle's return to the Premier League after a two-decade absence has attracted the attention of numerous players intrigued by the club's formidable financial capabilities. The possible addition of Ronaldo to Newcastle's roster could establish a connection with their beloved opponents De Lui.

Ronaldo has retained his status as a dominant figure in the Champions League this season, despite failing to break his previous records. Throughout his tenure at Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus, the Portuguese star has managed to score a staggering 140 goals.

Despite this, Ronaldo has been dealing with some complex circumstances in Arabia, which have led to his desire to part ways with Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia. It has been five months since he signed a two-and-a-half season contract with the Saudi club worth a remarkable €200 million per season. Moving him away will not come cheap for Newcastle.

Veiga is a highly sought-after soccer player, and Newcastle desperately wants him in the team. It is willing to pay the €40 million termination fee required to acquire the services of the Celta Vigo player.

Although Real Madrid and FC Barcelona have also expressed interest in him, Newcastle appear to have outbid these two top soccer clubs. Veiga can be likened to a diamond in the rough that has yet to be fully polished, but has immense potential.

Ibrahimović quits

A poignant farewell at the San Siro on Sunday marked the end of Ibrahimović's soccer career as an AC Milan striker. The 41-year-old Swede scored a whopping 93 goals in two seasons for Milan, playing 63 games.

In the previous year, he returned in to help Milan win the Serie A title, his second achievement with the Rossoneri. Unfortunately, he has struggled with injuries and was only able to make four appearances this season due to knee surgery he underwent last year.

Milan will honor Ibrahimović in a special ceremony after their match against Hellas Verona, as his contract with the Serie A club expires at the end of the season.
