There is plenty of high-caliber action scheduled for the slate of MLB slate today. The New York Mets, Kansas City Rangers, Houston Astros and New York Yankees are among the teams taking the field tonight.
Astros over Yankees
The Houston Astros (61-47) will face the New York Yankees (55-52) in Game 1 of their four-game series. Both teams are competing vigorously to secure the top spot in the American League West.
Last week saw an impressive performance by the Astros, securing wins in four of their five games. They are currently just a half-game behind Texas in the division standings and are anxiously awaiting a potential opportunity to overtake them.
Last week, the Yankees struggled and managed to be successful in only four of their five games. If they emerge victorious against the Astros, it could mark a significant turning point for them, resulting in their second win in their last six games.
Rangers to win against White Sox
The final game of the three-game series between the Chicago White Sox and Texas Rangers will take place Thursday afternoon in Texas. The White Sox have opted to give up and accept defeat for the 2023 season, having traded away several of their best players before the trade deadline. On the other hand, the Rangers have fully committed their efforts toward the 2023 season by acquiring multiple new players, with the goal of securing their first World Series championship.
By parting ways with several crucial players, such as their starting pitcher Lance Lynn, at the trade deadline, the White Sox thwarted all aspirations of making the 2023 playoffs. Currently, as they prepare to face the Rangers on Wednesday night, the White Sox are riding the momentum of two straight wins and an impressive record of winning eight of their last ten games. In addition, the team will enjoy some well-deserved rest on both Sunday and Tuesday.

The Rangers are determined to dethrone the formidable Astros as division kings. However, their recent performance has been a roller coaster ride. After suffering a series sweep at the hands of the San Diego team, they managed to regain their momentum by securing a 2-0 victory over the White Sox on Tuesday night.
Showing great persistence, the Rangers unleashed a stunning display Wednesday night, racking up an impressive 15 hits, including three home runs, ultimately dominating the White Sox with an emphatic 11-1 win. This back-to-back home wins solidified their comeback.
Mets considered losers vs. Royals
The upcoming clash between the New York Mets and Kansas City Royals is about to test the growth potential of both teams. With a lackluster performance in the first half of the season, the Mets, currently with a 50-57 record, have made some changes by parting ways with some of their key players. Conversely, the Royals, who rank second-worst in the American League with a 34-75 mark, are riding high on a five-game winning streak.
The Mets have emerged as a massive disappointment. Despite acquiring a significant number of players during the trade deadline, their ability to compete this year and possibly next season has been alarmingly undermined.
However, the Royals are also trying to put their season behind them and hope to put together a good month. Brady Singer will start the next game and is having a rough time on the mound, allowing 71 runs in 113.2 innings.
