For Game 3 of the 2023 NBA 2023 NBA Finalstensions rose as the Miami Heat took on the Denver Nuggets in an epic showdown. By the final buzzer, the Nuggets had pulled off another win to advance in the series and pave the way for a tough Game 4 on Friday.
Nuggets Continue to Excel
The Nuggets took Game 3 of the NBA Finals with a score of 109-94. Both teams played an outstanding game, but Denver controlled the tempo from the second period until the end of the contest. The Nuggets outrebounded the Heat 58-33 and took a 2-1 lead as Miami was never able to catch up.
Despite a Miami comeback attempt in the second half, it wasn't enough to close the gap completely. Nikola Jokic led the way for Denver, scoring 32 points and grabbing 21 rebounds. Jamal Murray also had a strong performance, finishing with 34 points and 10 assists.
Miami's Jimmy Butler put forth an impressive effort once again, finding 28 points. But his defensive performance was not spectacular, as he managed only two rebounds and four assists. He had ten rebounds and ten assists. He also did not receive enough support from his teammates, which resulted in his loss.
It was an exciting game that showcased the talents of both teams, but ultimately went in Denver's favor. With this win under their belt, the Nuggets move one game closer to winning their NBA Championship title. On the other hand, Miami has no room for mistakes in Game 4 if they want to keep their championship hopes alive.

Jokic becomes unstoppable
Jokic once again showed on the court with his record-setting performance in an NBA Finals game. He has now become the seventh NBA player to record two triple-doubles in a single Finals series. Draymond Green, Wilt Chamberlain, Larry Bird and Butler have also been able to accomplish the feat in a series. Magic Johnson and LeBron James did it previously, but needed three separate series.
It was Jokic's 10th triple-double in the current playoffs, which allowed him to break his own record. He scored 12 of 21 shots from the field and 7 of 8 from the line, playing 44 minutes.
At one point, the Nuggets extended their lead to 21 points, but the score was never a major concern. Jokic was consistent and, although the Heat closed the gap to just nine points with just over a minute to play, there was never any real threat.
It's important to note that Miami has been able to consistently bounce back from losses this postseason. They have made seven bailouts after trailing by at least 12 points to win. That commitment is the only thing keeping them alive right now.
